FAT BEAR WEEK 2021 KICKOFF PARTY!
Come celebrate the start of Fat Bear Week at Katmai National Park and Preserve! We'll watch the kickoff livestream at 7 and then fill out brackets to predict who will be the fattest bear of 2021. $10 a bracket-- half the pot will go to the winner(s), and we'll donate the other half to the Otis Fund at Katmai Conservancy. But you can still come even if you don't want to do a bracket. In the meantime, check out the bear cams from Explore.org- endlessly fascinating! Wednesday, September 29th. 6pm. BYOB and BYOSalmon! Free, but please RSVP so we know how much punch to make! (fyi: the Fat Bear Junior competition happens on September 23-24. Who will be the bear baby of the year?!) QUARANTIMES

A staged reading of a new play “The Trash Garden” by Padraig Bond Directed by Christina Marks Presented by Velvet Glove Theater The Trash Garden is a beautiful and biting new play set after the inevitable climate disasters approaching our world. We meet Evelyn and Atlas - the last two humans on earth - and their friendly (and sometimes not so friendly) ghost, and track their navigation of a world littered with references from our own and - more challenging than living in the perpetual desiccation of post disaster earth - learning to live with their very human strengths and weaknesses; unlimited imagination, the craving to understand, the lean to cruelty and the desperate need to love and be loved. Wednesday September 1 and Thursday September 2. 7pm. |
