an experimental musical theater for 4 musical actors and electronics – world premiere – Persona non grata, inspired by William S. Burroughs's song "Spare Ass Annie," explores different body concepts of the western world. The play emerges from thoughts by the Austrian writers Elfride Jelinek and Thomas Bernhard or the philosophers Arthur Schopenhauer and Wittgenstein. At the intersection of music text and movement the piece plays with various layers of how we understand our body, our mind, and if wholeness is possible. The piece is developed and composed by the Berlin based Cellist/Composer/Director Nora Krahl. Cast: Suzy Kohane, Ben Lewis, Eric Powell Holm, and Anna Reichert April 22, 23, 24. 8pm. ******* On April 22nd, bass player Sean Ali and butoh dancer Azumi O E will open the night. On April 23rd and 24th, Nora Krahl will perform contemporary pieces for solo cello in the first set. SWEETNESS AND MISCHIEF:
"Petunia and Chicken" + "Edgar Allan" A double bill of devised theatre Inspired by American authors "Edgar Allan" created and performed by The Coldharts *Cincinnati Fringe Festival Full Frontal Award Winner* + "Petunia and Chicken" created and performed by Animal Engine *Frigid New York Festival Favorite Award Winner* April 8-10 doors at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm Two award winning devised plays, “Edgar Allan” and “Petunia and Chicken,” will be performed for an exclusive limited run on a shared bill for one weekend at Cloud City. “Edgar Allan” is a manic lullabye inspired by the childhood and short stories of Edgar Allen Poe, and is created and performed by Brooklyn based duo The Coldharts. “Petunia and Chicken” is an epic turn of the century prairie love story inspired by the works of Willa Cather, and is created and performed by Animal Engine Theatre Company. “Petunia and Chicken” has not been seen in New York since winning the Festival Favorite Award at the 2014 Frigid New York Festival, and this will be the New York premiere for “Edgar Allan." Both shows have toured extensively through North America; including the Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Edmonton fringe festivals. “This play is my 2015 high-water mark so far - a rolling and demon-haunted dissection of childhood friendship and inevitable jealousy. Best of all it's damn funny when it wants to be." -Edmonton Journal (on Edgar Allan) “A gorgeous presentation of the American pioneer narrative using physical theatre and an earthy prairie palette.” -Edmonton Journal (on Petunia and Chicken) Tim and Joe Do A Terrible Job
Tim Racine and Joe Schiappa do not want to write a stand up set. Instead, they are just going to wing it. Join them for a never before seen stand up set that could terrible or it could be brilliant. We won't know until the show is over. April 2. 8pm. |
