A tender, meat-grinding, embodied interpretation of Mother of God going through it. She is a girl. She is a mother. She has a child; she loses that child. She is a social icon during the holiday season. A casualty of pain and glory and idolatry and consumerism and she is holding on, perhaps too hard. This experience exists in intrusive thoughts and coping mechanisms in an attempt to piece together meaning and reason.

THE DREAMER EXAMINES HIS PILLOW
"There's only one thing that goes straight my baby, and it's not love." -Dad Love and Death; Donna and Tommy can't live without each other, and they just might kill each other. Which has Donna asking, "Who's life is it anyway?" Time to talk to Dad. John Patrick Shanley's 1985 play "The Dreamer Examines His Pillow" is a psychological and sometimes psychedelic gut-punch that works to awaken us to, and connect us within the dream of our lives. Told with savagery and hilarity in equal parts by one of the best American playwrights in a generation. Revived in 2021 because as Andre Gide often repeated, "Everything that needs to be said has already been said, but since no one was listening, we have to say everything again." Presented by Wild Rose Theatre With Natasha Walfall, Khari Constantine, and Sergio Fuenzlida Featuring art by Dani Marco, and percussion by Mohomadou Diawara Directed by Jonathan Wilde December 9th, 10th, and 11th. IDEOLOGIX is a queer Polish fantasia from Cloud City resident playwright Eri Nox, centering around Flo and Bambi, a queer couple who have been hosting an underground LGBTQIA2+ party in Kazimierz, Kraków. IDEOLOGIX loosely follows Witkacy’s Oni, which prophecizes the rise of fascism in the 1940s. “They” are everywhere and everyone, not just the douche-bros who moved in upstairs and want to shut the party down… not just Bozena and Cristina, two somewhat straight Polish women who are experiencing the underground queer scene for the first time. “They” may not be safe… “They” are probably coming for you… “They” might even be you. Nox blends Witkacy’s deep philosophical musings and word play with their own experiences as a nonbinary American in this immersive, musical performance in which audiences are encouraged to move through, and even dance along with the performance. IDEOLOGIX will be performed in Polish and some English, with subtitles in both languages. Cloud City will be streaming the performance live(ish) from Kraków! Wear your best drag or rainbow flags. Thursday, November 4th. 7pm. FRAGMENT
Fragment is a new, devised, body-driven performance piece that focuses on the elementals, breath and creatureness. A collaboration inspired by chance, in conversation with the words of playwright/poet Mary Sefchek. Work transitions to dance, transitions to unknowns, delving into getting separated and seeking ‘’the pack.’’ Following impulse and gut images, breaking into a place that is both alive and dying, welcoming guests and strangers alike. Masks are required for entry. Thursday and Friday, October 28 and 29. Doors at 6:45; show at 7. |
