MAGIC EFFECTS WORKSHOP
This workshop is a crash course in the art of magic for those working in any aspect of the performing arts (circus artists, actors, comedians, dancers, directors and others). Joe Culpepper* will share secret sleight-of-hand techniques and research tools for adapting magic effects to your future shows. You will learn how to make objects magically appear, transform, and vanish. You will learn how to create illusions using your body. Most important of all, you will learn how to think and direct attention like a magician. No previous magic experience necessary. *Dr. Joe Culpepper is a magician, performance scholar and magic consultant. He is a former Mitacs Elevate postdoctoral fellow at Cirque du Soleil’s C:Lab and Concordia University. Joe has taught magic and its adaptation to the circus arts at Montreal’s National Circus School, the Centre National des Arts du Cirque, the Lido, UC Davis, and beyond. He is a member of London’s Magic Circle and works as a magic consultant for a variety of private and public organizations. Wednesday, June 19th. 7-9pm. [Advanced registration is required for this small, hands-on workshop. It’s limited to 10 - 15 participants to ensure that everyone receives personal instruction] Comments are closed.
